Access to Dental Care for All

Our fully compliant disabled access dental practice in Derby offers inclusive dental care.

Quite a few dental practices around the UK are situated in older buildings and adapted for use. For the majority of patients, this presents no problems, but, for the disabled, some of these buildings are inaccessible to wheelchair users, or, are accessible but only with some degree of difficulty. This was one of the many factors that we took into consideration when we first set up Darren Bywater Dental Care, and, after a lot of research and effort had been put into finding the right building, we purchased our current property on Main Avenue.

Purchasing the property was just the first step though, and, working with architects, the practice was built and designed not only to the highest level for dental purposes, but so that it was fully accessible for disabled patients.

Care for all

Naturally, we care equally for all of our patients, but are aware of the extra barriers for good oral health that some disabled people face. By ensuring that our Derby dental practice is fully compliant for disability issues, we hope that this particular barrier to good oral health is lifted for patients in the surrounding area.

As well as a healthy diet, regular professional dental care is very important to keep the patient’s teeth and gums in good health. Neglecting visits, or being unable to visit a dental practice due to a disability, is likely to mean that what would otherwise have been minor problems, are allowed to advance to a stage where more intensive dental treatment is needed.

Cosmetic dentistry options

As well as quality general oral health care, full and easy access to our first-rate facilities in Allestree near Derby, also enables disabled patients to access the wide range of cosmetic dentistry procedures that we offer; from a simple teeth whitening procedure, to more advanced procedures such as dental implants.

We should add, of course, that we don’t simply pat ourselves on the back for creating a disabled compliant practice and are always happy to receive suggestions and feedback for any improvements that could be made. This applies, naturally, for all of our patients.

We hope that our practice is now fully accessible to all, but if you are disabled and are uncertain about anything, our reception team will always be happy to answer any questions that you might have, and can be contacted by ringing us on 01332 550926.
